We're in the small market town of Sleaford, in the county of Lincolnshire in England.

Times have changed and so has the Church - old or young, single or married, comfortable or finding the going hard, you can be certain of a warm welcome at Sleaford URC. We seek to follow Jesus Christ and want to share His love and good news with you.

United Reformed Church Beliefs

The United Reformed Church (URC)

stands in the Reformed tradition of Christian faith, believes in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit;

it finds the supreme authority for faith and conduct by the guidance of the Spirit in the Word of God in the Bible;

it looks to be continually renewed and reformed so as to fulfil its mission of witness and service in the name of Jesus Christ;

it practises both infant and believer's baptism and celebrates the Lord's Supper;

and it recognises the ministry of God's people: all the members serving in the world and through the church, in particular: ministers of Word and Sacrament, elders, lay preachers, church related community workers (C.R.C.W.s), and workers from partner churches.

Sleaford URC is a member church of the United Reformed Church.

The Christian's that are Sleaford United Reformed Church consist of URC 'members' and those who join regularly for worship, fellowship and service, as we seek to be obedient to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
we welcome those who come from any church background or none;
we arrange our own worship, witness and service;
we celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper;
we have regular church meetings of members and an elected body of 8 ordained elders who, with the minister, share pastoral and leadership responsibilities;
and we seek to develop ecumenical relationships as we work with the other denominations in Sleaford.

Worship

Sunday morning - 10.45am -> 12.15pm
Morning worship is held in the main church and is our more 'traditional' service. Singing is a mix of older and relatively modern hymns, accompanied by organ and by our music group. Communion is normally celebrated on the second Sunday morning each month.

Sunday evening - 6.00pm -> 7.00 pm (except Summer months)
Evening worship is less formal and is also held in the church. There is more likely to be modern rather than traditional hymns sung, accompanied by the organ, piano or guitar. Communion is normally celebrated on the fourth Sunday evening each month. Once a month we worship with our Methodist friends, one month worship is held here and the next there. On the 5th Sunday of a month, the churches in the town join together for a joint service (see our 'diary' for venues)

Young people

This page is for the younger people in our congregation and for those young people visiting us here on the internet or in person.

Ages 5 and upwards:

We have active Boys and Girls Brigades that meet weekly (term time) in the church hall. Split into different age groups you're sure to have fun as you mix with others of your own age.

On Sunday we have a Junior Church that leaves the main congregation to follow it's own activities in the Hall.
We are always pleased to welcome young people wanting to play a part in any and all areas of church life.
Our Monday sports, and Tuesday short mat bowls evenings are open to responsible young people (Note that there is no specific supervision of, or responsibility for, young people on these sports evenings).

Under 5's

Under 5's are welcome in our Junior Church, and parents/carers are welcome to accompany them if required.
Baby Dazzlers - a group for expecting mothers and babies up to one year old meets on Monday mornings.
Bobby Dazzlers - an initiative of the church, this carer and toddler group meets on a Monday afternoon (except August) in the hall.
