Traditional Worship at Sleaford URC ?

Worship

When we say that morning worship is our 'traditional' service, we don't mean to say that this service is what 'you' would describe as traditional. Throughout the Christian Church, worship takes place in many varied forms and styles.  This is one of the strengths of the church - as individuals we need to express our praise and thanks to God in a way that is meaningful to us. Sleaford offers a variety of worship styles in it's churches and the URC is part of that.  We are not necessarily a typical URC church.

Sunday morning

Our traditional Sunday morning worship is one where we sing a mix of old and modern hymns. We are accompanied by pipe organ and worship often begins with 2 or 3 choruses led by our music group (electronic organ, guitars, flute and drums).  We meet in the main church building which is furnished with chairs. Following the service we normally meet for tea and coffee in The Source Cafe area.

Sunday evening

Sunday evening is often a less formal service.  We meet in the church and are accompanied by an electronic organ or guitar. We are seated on chairs which are sometimes in a row layout, but at other times we gather in a circle.  Hymns are often more modern than in the morning service, and occasionally the sermon involves congregational participation (i.e. answering questions or studying a passage)
