About Sleaford URC

Sleaford United Reformed Church was built on its present location in 1867.  It stands beside the river Slea from which the town Sleaford gets it's name.  The church previously stood on Hen Lane (now Jermyn Street) from 1776 till moving to its present location (more of our history here). We are a Christian church. Prior to the formation of the United Reformed Church, our denomination was 'Congregational'.  Whilst denominations are an important part of Christian tradition and identity, we work actively with Christians from the other denominations in our town and area under the auspices of Churches Together in Sleaford.

We welcome those from any church background or none.  If you have questions about God, about Jesus, religion, the church or whatever, we will do our best to answer them.

Our vision is that "We will enhance our reputation as a welcoming, joyful and safe place to discover and develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We will continue to show concern for the poor and the marginalised in this country and abroad. By the end of 2010 we aim to have increased the membership of our church to at least 75, with a regular morning congregation at least equal to that number. We will achieve all of this through increased participation of all members of the church family in the fields of personal witness to their faith, spiritual growth, and service of the community and the world. "

We have an information leaflet that gives a bit more information, You can view it here or download it in pdf format here (you will need a suitable reader such as this one:- Adobe's).

If you are a regular visitor, you may wish to visit the regular's page here, or view a daily Bible reading, some great Bible Study tools or other bible resources?  See what is coming up, or what we have been up to. If you are visiting as someone interested in knowing a bit more about the Christian faith, and us here in Sleaford, we have information on an Alpha course which we run to enable exploration of Christianity.
