Girls Brigade and Jubilee 2000

The 1st Sleaford Girls Brigade supported the Jubilee 2000 campaign.

We entered the worldwide "Life or Debt Art Competition" aimed at raising the profile of the Jubilee 2000 campaign and specifically the need to address debt in the worlds poorest countries.

Our Brigaders and Seniors reached the finals with their posters and the seniors wrote a poem that was published on the competition web page.

The Seniors Poem:

The longest chain is getting longer. The amount of money is getting stronger.
If we help in every way
We could make tomorrow their greatest day.
Even children as young as five
Are made to work just to stay alive.
Without our help some may not know tomorrow,
Show your feelings, Show your sorrow.
If only other people cared,
Then someone's tomorrow may be spared.
Think of those when saying grace,
And help this world become a better place.
Together say Amen!
