MEMBERS of the Sleaford Boys and Girls Brigades had a mountain to climb to
raise funds so they can meet comrades from Africa.
The youngsters took part in a sponsored climb on Saturday outside the Sleaford United Reformed Church in Southgate
The money is towards paying for an exchange trip with Boys and Girls Brigades in Embu district, Kenya.
Not only do they have to raise the money to get them to Africa, but their exchange friends are so poor the Sleaford boy and girls are raising their share too.
The aim on Saturday was to between them climb Scaffolding the equivalent distance of 17.000ft - the height of Mount Kenya.
They have a target of £15,000, which will pay for a small group of five or six Kenyans, aged between 14 and 16, to come to Sleaford and then a larger group of up to 12 young people will go on the return trip next Easter.
The Embu brigades would visit in August 2003, staying for about two weeks each.
