BOBBY-DAZZLERS
Co-ordinator's Report for 2006
Dinosaur Stencils was the project for our opening session on 9th January 2005. Providing a different project each week stimulates children and adults alike. A flexible routine gives an expectant air of wondering what BOBBY-DAZZLERS is offering this week. Many make the Project Table their first port of call. Messy to some, creative to others, or perhaps a helping of both. Over the months little hands have painted, baked, printed, stuck, cut-out and made butterflies, peg-dolls, pop-up chicks, flowers, crowns and grown cress etc.
As in previous years we have followed the seasons and celebrations. Particularly Christmas, Easter and every child's birthday. New Committee Members During our AGM, held on 26th January, we welcomed Tracey Pell and Natasha Laming as our new Parent/Carer Representatives on our committee. Both long-standing BOBBY-DAZZLER attendees - their interest and input is a great asset.
Books / Story time
Sleaford Library has been always available through Carla
Bowyer providing us with Story-time within our sessions.
Sadly this has ceased as Carla's location changed on
Mondays. This service has been appreciated and we
miss Carla very much. Happily the children still enjoy the
Book-Table provided at BOBBY-DAZZLERS.
Teddy Bears' Picnic 10th July
We met at Boston Road Recreation Ground for our open-air session. Lunch packs and drinks were provided. This has become a very popular event. Bubble-blow, face-painting, tents, tunnels and parachute games etc. all added to the fun.
Leavers Presentation 17th July
The seven children leaving to attend school were each presented with an atlas and certificate, on behalf of BOBBY-DAZZLERS, by Debbie Scott, Sleaford Development Manager, assisted by Connor on work experience. This being the last session of the summer term our long break had begun.
Autumn Term 4th September
Continuing with our flexible format we were ready to meet
and greet old and new friends again.
"Singing Time"
Whilst some children carry on with their own choice of play our singing time slot continues to be popular. New songs and more traditional rhymes are shared. The adults are encouraged to join in and the children love this regular part of our sessions.
Play Area Survey
Taking up Sleaford Town Council's challenge fifteen adults completed our own group survey on how money should be spent on new play equipment at the Boston Road recreation ground. To our surprise Mr Coster from STC visited a group session. He chatted amongst us and was grateful for our suggestions. A news item in the local paper also mentioned our input. Mr Coster has made a further visit showing us plans for a new play-area with equipment, toilet block and small snack-shop.
Building Work and Building Work
Extensive work has commenced to the front of the United Reformed Church this autumn in addition to the building work at the rear of the church. Access at times has been difficult. Care is paramount.
Attendances
These over-all have been slightly lower this year averaging at 30 children per session. This can be accounted for by children starting pre-school/school, moving area or even a change of nap time!
Fond farewells were given to two families as Anna and Freya left for New Zealand with their parents and Olivia Faye went to live in Australia with hers.
Christmas 2006
Thirty-eight children plus adults attended our Christmas session. Father Christmas (Geoff Cowling) had a gift for each child. Laughter and fun for two hours - especially from the ball-pool. Goody bags full of treats, including fruit for healthy eating, were taken home.
So with best wishes for Christmas and looking forward to a happy new year BOBBY-DAZZLERS 2006 came to a close on 18th December.
